Eleven artists from the Shire of Mundaring have banded together to offer visitors an opportunity to visit their studios on the last weekend in October. This will give the public a chance to talk to the artists and see how they go about making their art and buy direct if they wish.
A Mundaring Hills Open Studios map is available for you and gives clear directions on how to get to the studios where parking will be provided and entry is free.
The dates for 2016 are Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th of October. The studios will be open from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm both days.
The artists on the Mundaring Hills Open Studios map are Rachel Gillam, Ian Jowett, Neil Elliott, Sharon Dawes, Tina Bryce, Lee Woodcock,
Silvana Ferrario, Ric Burkitt, Jan Pittman, Marie Haass and Alecia Christy.
You will also be able to view more of the artists’ work at Nest Design Studio in Darlington and Just Add Passion in Stoneville.
The Mundaring Hills Open Studios group also has their own group website at www.mundaring-hills-open-studios.org.au where a map to the artist’s studio and see examples of their work all year round.
The Hills area east of Perth has long been known as a place where artists and craftspeople choose to live as the semi rural nature of the area provides space and inspiration for their art practice.
October is a great time to visit the hills as the wildflowers are in full bloom and the weather’s fine.
