TESSA WATERS – VOLCANO

NOMINEE BEST INTERNATIONAL SHOW – NZ INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL

WINNER MOST OUTSTANDING COMEDY AWARD – 2014 MELBOURNE FRINGE

One-woman powerhouse Tessa Waters returns to Fringe World in 2018 with a brand-new hour of comedy and a
tonne-load of energy to burn.

The multi-award winning Waters’ new show Volcano is
about bravery, motorbikes and the night Tessa’s great
grandmother survived the eruption of Mt Tavurvur in 1940’s
PNG.

In Volcano, Tessa brandishes her unique form of storytelling, sketch and clown to draw on stories from her own family history of strong and powerful women. She explores her own value and worth in a post-apocalyptic landscape, pooling her talents for building morale, finding the funny and bringing people together. But will this be enough to save her when rations run out?

Volcano sits somewhere between Broad City and The Mighty Boosh with an original soundtrack composed by Tessa and her brother, musician Robin Waters.
Her previous shows have earned her a valued reputation as a skilled performer. WOMANz and Over Promises have won a slew of comedy and touring awards in recent years,
including a Best International Show nomination at the 2017 NZ International Comedy Festival for Over Promises, and an Adelaide Fringe Best Comedy Weekly Award for 2017’s
festival hit, Fully Sik.

When she’s not tearing up the solo stage, Tessa is one third of the multi-award nominated trio Fringe Wives Club, directing shows, mentoring 20 fellow artists, broadcasting on Melbourne’s JOY FM, and being seen on ABC2’s Comedy Next Gen.

Waters is understandably a Fringe World and Comedy Festival favourite. Get on board now, while you still can.
