The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks a significant day in the history of World War I.
It was on this day that this destructive and devastating war was finally over.
Each year, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage mark Remembrance Day with a special ceremony commemorating those who lost their lives and those whose lives were changed because of their participation in this “war to end all wars”. Remembrance Day now encompasses all of the conflicts involving our defence forces.
This ceremony will take place at 10:45am on Saturday, 11 November and will be complemented by the ANZAC Cottage Field of Remembrance in which community members pay tribute to loved ones who have paid the ultimate price in serving their country.
ANZAC Cottage, at 38 Kalgoorlie St, Mt Hawthorn will be open on 11th and 12th November from 10am to 5pm with talks about ANZAC Cottage in World War II at 1:30 and 3:30 each day and a children’s poppy making activity.
