RSPCA WA’s Clear the Cattery promotion a roaring success

Kristie LimEastern Reporter

SIXTEEN cats from the RSPCA WA in Malaga found new homes as part of the Clear the Cattery promotion at the weekend.

According to the RSPCA, the $29 promotion resulted in all adoptable cats being adopted, along with 13 kittens, who were not included in the promotion.

Clear the Cattery was launched because of cat adoptions slowing down and a full cattery which needed to make room for new cats to be brought in.

A RSPCA WA spokeswoman thanked everyone who came to the shelter during the promotion, particularly those who have opened their home up to an animal in need.

“Sadly, older cats often get overlooked for cute kittens, so we’re thrilled that – after waiting for so long – all the adult cats found a home of their own last weekend,” she said.

“It’s a ‘purr-fect’ outcome all round; we’ve now freed up a lot of space in the cattery so we can take in other cats who need our help.”

In March 2017, the RSPCA ran a Check Meowt promotion to clear the cattery during the end of the kitten season.

Meanwhile, other state RSPCA branches ran a national Clear the Shelter campaign last week.
