Melville’s AH Bracks Library to close for 6 months for renovations

Bryce LuffMelville Gazette

THE AH Bracks Library on Canning Highway will be closed for six months from March 19 while it undergoes renovations.

When work is finished in September, the Melville library will feature a new southern entrance and carpark, new meeting rooms, new kids space and adult retreat, improved study and reading spaces and a lab.

During the closure a temporary library will be set up at LeisureFit Melville, which is within its current precinct, and a pop-up library will be established at the front of Hawaiian Melville (formerly Melville Plaza).

The Civic Square Library will open Sundays during the six-month closure and the Canning Bridge Library will receive 4000 additional books.

The renovations form part of a plan to revitalise all five City of Melville libraries, with AH Bracks the final facility to undergo work.

The City will also use the time to renovate LeisureFit Melville’s reception area.

A temporary reception space will open alongside the short-term library.

No other areas will close and all services will run as normal.
