Yanchep: Police call for information on serious Indian Ocean Drive crash

UPDATE, August 27 8.20am: Major Crash Investigators have appealed for information about yesterday’s crash in Yanchep.

WA Police spokesman Sam Dinnison said a white Subaru Outback wagon was being driven south on Indian Ocean Drive about 3.20pm on August 26 and a Toyota Landcruiser Prado was travelling north on the same road.

“The two vehicles collided head-on near the intersection of Clover Road,” he said.

“The 18-year-old male driver of the Subaru, 49-year-old male driver of the Toyota, and a 47-year-old female passenger from the Toyota were all taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance.”

Main Roads reported that Indian Ocean Drive had reopened late last night.

 

EARLIER: TWO people have reportedly been seriously injured in a crash on Indian Ocean Drive this afternoon.

The crash was reported about 3.40pm on August 26 at Clover Road, south of the Breakwater Drive junction.

Main Roads WA reported the road was closed in both directions between Yanchep Beach Road and Breakwater Drive about 4pm.

This week, Police and Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts called for motorists to slow down on the road after police caught people allegedly driving between 137km/h and 154km/h.

Earlier this month, three people died in a head-on crash farther north near Breton Bay – an 83-year-old man from Nilgen, a 38-year-old woman and her six-year-old son.
