Basketball: Perth Redbacks lack venom in SBL losses to Willetton Tigers

PERTH Redbacks endured a difficult weekend as the men’s and women’s teams both fell to the Willetton Tigers on Saturday night.

In the first game of the double header at Willetton Basketball Stadium, the Redbacks lost 93-79 in the Women’s State Basketball League (SBL).

The Redbacks had an even spread of scorers with Makailah Dyer posting 13 points while Alix Hayward and Mikayla Pirini both scored 12 points.

Samantha Norwood piled on 16 points for the Tigers to the lead the game in scoring.

It was a closer game in the Men’s SBL as the Tigers prevailed 87-83 over the Redbacks.

Jackson Hussey scored 32 points for Perth and he was supported by Shawn Redhage with 19 points and 15 rebounds.

The Tigers had a more even scoring effort although Kyle Armour poured in 20 points.
